The Anchorage Post is located in Anchorage, Alaska and has approximately 400 individual and 60 sustaining members. The post was founded by Brigadier General Benjamin B. Talley, USA (Retired) in 1943.

Monthly Luncheon
Our next monthly luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, 26 August 2010 at 11:30am.
We will meet again at the Anchorage Moose Lodge. A pizza lunch will be available for $5.
The speaker of the month will be Mike Jones, P.E., Program Manager at AECOM, Inc., based in Anchorage, AK. The presentation will describe the planning, mobilization and execution of the $6.4 million project and the challenges involved with remote operations in the Aleutian Islands. Bio: Mike Jones is a mechanical engineer with 18 years of consulting experience in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest and has been a registered engineer in Alaska since 1999. His experience as a Project Manager and engineer has been primarily focused on contaminated sites and has included remedial investigations, feasibility studies, engineering designs and removal actions for the Department of Defense, other Federal and state agencies, the mining industry and the oil and gas sector. Mike has been a resident of Alaska for 36 years and is a graduate of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

Executive Board Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Friday, 27 August 2010 at 6:30 am at the Country Kitchen restaurant (346 E. Fifth Avenue, next to the Sheraton Hotel).
Joint Pacific - Northwest Regional Education and Training Conference - Seattle, WA
Each year the SAME Seattle and Tacoma Posts recognize recently completed outstanding projects. Our 14th Annual Design Excellence Award dinner will take place on October 14, 2010 at the Airport Hilton in conjunction with the Joint Pacific - Northwest Regional Education and Training Conference. This year, contest applications will be accepted from sustainer firms in the SAME Northwest and Pacific Regions, with pre-submittal due July 8 and summary booklets due August 13. As in previous years, there will be awards for large and small businesses.
